Dutchess Community College is the start/finish staging location for the 41st Dutchess County Classic. The college has plenty of parking, and is conveniently located near the Dutchess Rail Trail Morgan Lake Trail Head. Medical Support, post-race celebrations, award ceremony and porta-john access will all be located within the east side of the college.

Registration Dates

Get the lowest prices by registering by Saturday, July 13, 2019. You can register on race day, but prices will be higher.

T-shirts guaranteed to all who preregister by Saturday, July 13, 2019.

Arrival Times

If registering on race day, please arrive at least 90 minutes prior to your scheduled race start.

If you are preregistered, be sure to arrive at least 45 minutes prior to your scheduled race start.

Packet Pick-up

Monday, September 9 – Saturday, September 14, 2019 at Fleet Feet, 1895 South Road, Poughkeepsie, NY 12601 during normal business hours.

On race day, 6:45 am – 7:45 am at the start/finish location at Dutchess Community College.

Scoring

Runners will wear B-tags to time the race.

Please make sure bibs are on the front of your shirts and visible to volunteers at the finish line. This will ensure you receive an official race time.

Scoring mats will be at the start line, finish line, and multiple points along the course.

Mile markers and time clock will also be used.

Hydration and portable toilets 

Refreshments will be available after the races at Dutchess Community College Lot E.

For the Marathon/half marathon water and electrolyte stations will be located at approximately every 1.5 miles and staffed by volunteers and cross country teams.  Please thank them while out on the course!

A large number of portable toilets will be available at the start/finish area and near each hydration station on the course. Please DO NOT use private or public property along the course for this purpose.

Since parking is in the same location as the start/finish, bag drop off/pick up services will not be available. We ask that you keep all valuables in your car or on you during the event.

Volunteer support

The Dutchess County Classic is proud of the many volunteers from local municipalities, high schools and community organizations who are lending their support for this event. EMT crews and ambulances will be stationed along the course, and medical personnel from the Dutchess County Department of Behavioral and Community Health will staff medical tents. Bike volunteers will also be along the course, if anyone should need help or need medical attention.

Accommodations

A block of rooms have been reserved for Dutchess County Classic runners at the new Homewood Inn and Suites in Poughkeepsie. Rate: $169 per night.

Limits

Registration Restrictions

Runners may register for only one race (except kids may run in 1-Mile Kids race and also register to run for the 5K if they wish).

For the full marathon and half marathon, all participants must be at least 14 years old on race day or if under 14, have parent/guardian approval to run the race.

All participants for either the Dutchess County Classic 5K must be at least 10 years old on race day or if under 10 have parent/guardian approval to run in the race.

Anyone entering a false date of birth for registration will have their registration cancelled without refund.

Race registration fees are non-refundable. While you may choose to switch race distances, there will be no refunds for switching to a less expensive race and you will be charged the difference if you switch to a more expensive race.

Course Restrictions

Runners must maintain a per-mile pace of at least 15 minutes or better.

There will be several road crossings on the Dutchess Rail Trail. Traffic control volunteers and Law Enforcement will be stationed at these road intersections for safety.

There are many water stops. Please use the portable toilets near water stops and not public or private property.

Please, no pets, no carrying children while running, jogger strollers, or headphones.

For safety reasons, organizers strongly recommend that you do not use headphones while racing. Injury due to headphone use is not covered under Road Runners Club of America insurance policies. There could be many distractions along the course, including spectators, animals, and scenery. Please help keep yourself and other runners safe by running without headphones.

There are no shower facilities available after the race.

USATF Certification

Courses are USATF certified.

Kids 1-Mile

Details

Pre-registered kids run free; $10 to register on race day.

Kids race starts and ends before other races. There is a lot of cheering for the kids!

For kids 12 and under. All youth can participate if registered by a parent or guardian.

It will quickly change to the Dutchess Rail Trail, which is flat, shaded, and fast. The Rail Trail is asphalt surface and in some places it is packed sand.

Course will cross the Walkway Over the Hudson (concrete surface).

Course will remain open for 6.5 hours.

Half Marathon - 13.1 miles

Course will cross the Walkway Over the Hudson (concrete surface).

5K - 3.1 Miles
